Who’s the new kid?

We did it again… It was so hot the last couple of weeks so I took Newtie and cut his hair.  He wanted the popular summer haircut similar to the Conrad’s….. BUT we wanted a nice boy cut for Lindsey’s wedding.  I like it but I have a feeling that it will be shorter yet….

This weekend Keith’s neice got married.   She was in our wedding for anyone who remembers, since it feels like we have been married forever….  She was one of the little girls that walked down and lit all the candles… Anyway, Carter was in her wedding as a junior groomsman.  He was so handsome!  Course all of the boys clean up good!  I have him on video dancing with all the groomsman and if I can figure it out I will post it.  He danced all night long and he had so much fun!  He did NOT get his dancing moves from me that is for sure.  He is actually good.  LOL!

4 Wheeling in Sconi

036

Last week we left our house on Thursday for the journey up to Wisconsin.  Met Dad in North Branch and he took the boys for the weekend.  We arrived around 2:30 ish to our little motel clear out in the boonies in a town called Webb Lake.  Checked in and kind of took a little nap then went to Danbury to surprise a guy that Keith works with.  We ate and drank some beers and then headed back to our motel.  Later that evening another couple of guys came up too!  Starting Friday they all took off.  It was John, Susie, Keith, Kevin and Dick.    While they were 4 wheeling I went to this place about 1/2 hour away in Spooner/Shell Lake called The Potter’s Shed.  You could buy already made items or you could paint your own.  Of course I did the paint your own and had fun doing it.  I was the only adult doing it… the others were like 12 little girls with the girl scouts… hmmm anyway.   Then I went and looked at some antique stores and then found a scrapbook store.  I finally made my way back to the motel and started scrapbooking for a while until Keith called and said where they were and I met them for supper and then they made their way back to the motel.  They were filty and just an FYI the ticks were really bad.  Susie had a one day count of 21 on her…. YUCK!!  After some drama with a couple of guys they left the next morning so it was just me, Keith, John and Susie.  They finally convinced me to rent one for the day and that we would have fun.  At first I was sick to my stomach of being nervous but after I got the feel for it I felt like I was cruising the streets of Rodman again and going like the rest of them.  I think I recall a few times wanting to go faster.  We had lots of fun and even seen a porcupine.  It was kind of chilly but when it started to rain it got really cold.  That evening we went to the local town bar/restaurant and had Ribs and then people watched, drank beer and laughed alot.  It was fun and we have decided that we would definantely go back.  Motel was kind of like the old West Bend motel.  Nothing special… but it was clean and the lady was SUPER nice.  Hey it was only $45.99 a night.  They only had one channel on the tv to watch but hey…. we didn’t go to watch tv.  If anyone wants a fun, friendly people, good food and just to be outdoors… this is the place to go that doesn’t cost a fortune and oh ya really no technology… no cell phone service……….  But that was another nice thing too!!

Who’s the new kid?

Well…. we finally did it.  We cute his hair.  Not all of it but just needed a trim.  He looks so cute and the after photo is of his actual birthday on Wednesday the 29th, so we had a little tiny cake that big enough for 4 pieces of cake.  There was so much frosting that the boys took a couple of bits and said I don’t want any more.  Kind of funny I thought.

This hair cute reminds me of the Schafer’s boys hair cuts growing up!  I just had to laugh and he loves it.  That is about all from the Newton’s…  Oh ya…. Happy May Day!

It’s spring because my blue bells are here!

078It just got done raining and the sun is shining so I thought I am going to quick take this photo before they are done looking so cool!  Shortly after we moved into this house (1996) Paul went and found some blue bells in the country and for years they have slowly grown to one plant then two and so on.  Well this year I have about 12.  They are so neat.  I have to say that my favorite flower is the tulip and I can’t grow those for nothing so I guess I will take these.    Just thought I would share with everyone!

Our Little Hippie Boy!

Last August!

Last August!

This is 6 months later.... Feb 09

This is 6 months later.... Feb 09

Yes we have a little hippie at our house.  I was scrapbooking lately and I came across his first day of school, which is the first photo and I couldn’t believe how much his hair grew in 6 months!  I wish mine grew that fast but without the gray!!  He gets alot of grief about his hair so I will tell you the little story behind it!  When we were in West Bend last summer when Julie and the kids were packing to leave to Washington.  Tucker saw Kyle and has always loved him and just kind of followed him around like a little puppy.  Well as some of you may know Kyle’s hair was getting pretty long.  Well after that Tucker just kept saying “mom I want my hair like Kyle Schafer’s”.  If you even talk about cutting it he doesn’t like it and says “no you are not going to cut my hair, I want it long like Kyle’s.”  I think it all goes to the impact that Kyle had on my kids.  They talk about them and they ask if we are ever going to see them again.  I say yes.  I hope we do and I am sure some day we will but wish it was sooner than later.  I guess I can’t make him cut it because of his reason…  I think about and laugh because either Kirk is mad as hell because of their long hair or he is giggling.  I would like to think he is giggling and calling them both (Kyle and Tucker) girls…  Just a thought!

Nothing much

Not much going on at the Newton house but Keith and I trying to get over this upper respitory infection/sinus infection/cold stuff that is going around.  YUCK!  I hope that we feel better by this weekend because we go to state with Carter for wrestling.  We are pretty excited for him to do this!   Just a cool experience for him!  I hope that everyone is staying warm and healthy!

Valentine’s Day Project

Carter came home last week with the class list for Valentine’s and also a note stating that he needed to make a box at home so his classmates could put their valentine’s for him in it.  Each one in the class is making one and bringing it to school.  My first and only thought was hey we have an empty Kleenex box and he can wrap it and put stickers on it.  Well…..  As some of you know during the winter I work at the Before School program…. Monday came and in walks a couple of kids with boxes… OK change of plans.  One kid made a sponge bob squarepants and that is when I knew if I sent Carter to school with a wrapped Kleenex box that he could possibly get beat up in the bathroom. (kidding)  So I was then on a mission to figure out something really cool to create.  They really liked Walle (the latest Disney movie) and so that is what I came up with.  I think I went to the extreme but it turned out really cool!001
